Volunteer Abroad Ideas

Want to get away? Overseas volunteer work could be your ticket to a new adventure in life.

Volunteer abroad opportunities exist in most continents of the world, including:

  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Australia & Oceania
  • Eastern Europe
  • Western Europe
  • The Caribbean
  • South America
  • The Middle East

You can make a difference in the world, while also having an amazing adventure you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

There are needs for nurses, teachers, dental hygenists, construction workers, general laborers, and anybody who can read books to kids in school and help them to learn English.

There is even a need for teaching the English Language to Buddhist Monks in Nepal. Imagine a trip to the monasteries in Nepal, meeting the Monks and helping them to learn English. That would be an overseas trip you’d never forget!

Overseas volunteer work can be a fulfilling and soul satisfying way to see the world. Travel to exotic locations and learn all about other cultures. Make many new friends and become a genuine world citizen.

It’s okay if you don’t have a particular skill that is listed in these examples. There are endless work opportunities involving everything from helping to build schools, to showing women entrepreneurs how to use a computer.

There is often a need for basic shelter, homes, classrooms, daycare centers, etc. Many localities need wells and plumbing for clean drinking water. If you are willing to work, there is always a need for willing hands to help out.

Want some exercise to get a flat stomach and toned arms and legs while you volunteer? Here is one typical description of the need for unskilled laborers who are willing to help with construction and maintenance of schools:

“Construction includes repair and maintenance of schools, painting the walls, working on the plumbing for drinking water, installing toilets, building playgrounds, etc.”

Who needs to go to the gym when you could be getting your exercise while helping to build and repair schools?

Some more activities that you could help with and teach to others are …

  • sewing
  • soap making
  • computer training
  • handcrafts
  • candle making
  • woodworking
  • plumbing
  • conservation
  • gardening
  • shoe making
  • cooking meals at oprhanages
  • carpentry
  • child care
  • water purification

If you have ever done any babysitting you could be a great help in the orphanages by helping with meals, reading children’s books out loud, and teaching kids to sing the A-B-C song to help them learn English.

Whatever your interest, there is some kind of overseas volunteer work that is just waiting for you to answer the call of adventure.
